2024 (3 week time frame)

Goals is to research and use multiple Ice cream machines and find the pain points and flaws in the design. Along with deconstructing them to create a more useful and visually appealing model of ice cream machine. While Connecting it to a specific users need

Understanding the PROCESS…

The Research Phase started with using the different types of ice cream machines, such as the Ninja Creami, Ivation, Dash My Pint, and Americana. We created a user experience report for each one after using each product a few times and for different purposes. After using the machine we took them apart to understand how they worked.

The User Profile is created with the identity of an overworked father so that the design of the ice cream machine is created in a way that the user would need and like. This user profile helped inform future design decisions. Creating the identity of Keith Mills helped serve as a reference for the creation of the Ice Cream Machine. Helping Identify that the experience given would be made to help foster a connection between parents and kids.

The form that encapsulates the products must be able to hold all the necessary equipment to make the machine work. Each machine has different capabilities and the parts to make it work has to fit in the machine.

Sketches are created iterated on the experimental idea of kids being a big part of the process to make ice cream.

Problems found with this design was the massive handles made so that Kids could grab the machine but, it didn’t flow well with the design and after the storyboard gave the realization that parents wouldn’t want kids to hold something that heavy.
