Goals is to research and use multiple Ice cream machines and find the pain points and flaws in the design. Along with deconstructing them to create a more useful and visually appealing model of ice cream machine. While Connecting it to a specific users need

*Team Drawings

Looking at the eight different designs the Pineapple playground Design and the Kaohsiung music center design was chosen to move onward. They both were Taiwanese inspired and were the closest to our desired criteria.

Models became the most integral part of the design helping adding aspects of each to the final model. At this point we managed to create a final model that added the best aspects of each design. Such as the money bars, the Bopomofo, musical instruments, slides, and staircase.

BENEFITS of Play

Children

Social development of interacting with others, improving cooperation, communication, and conflict resolution.

Improvement of mental well-being as well as self-confidence.

Adults

Exercise and connection to children or grandchildren through multi-generational play.

Taiwanese culture

Kaohsiung Music Center

Landmark of cultural development in southern Taiwan.

Bopomofo- Phonetic system to teach Mandarin in Taiwan. For many children, it is the first system they learn.

Thirty five different iterations were made. the drawings were then narrowed down to thirteen based off of a vote. from those thirteen two were chosen to continue off of.

The Pineapple design was chosen because it captivated Taiwanese culture and was made with multi generational play in mind

The Kaohsiung music center moved on as well because it had multiple capabilities for play while connecting closely to Taiwanese culture

*Team drawings

Ideations of the pineapple playground and the Kaohsiung music center focused more on safety and the criteria believed to be the most relevant for creation of a playground.

Realizing that the Kaohsiung music center deign was the more suitable direction.

This Design is the most close to the final model made from the last round of model iterations.

It incorporated many of the criteria that we had deemed necessary for our project.

From this Model we made to change the rope swing and the stairs. The Rope swing was removed to make a space for a wheelchair accessible staircase to make it more inclusive to all children.

full size model pointed out some flaws in the design such as the bottom floor needed to be taller and the side was too small to be split in half

Taiwanese students created the CAD model while the Auburn students focused on the dimensions as well as the color scheme for the final model

For the Final Design the Bopomofo was incorporated into the floor to improve cognitive function in children while being nostalgic for the parents, the connection to the Kaohsiung music center its designed after it while also having instruments on the inside, the Staircase is designed so that people who are in wheelchairs can use the second level as well.
